Personal Bio: Coach Orlando Jewell was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, where he developed a lifelong passion for athletics. Growing up, he competed in baseball, basketball, football, boxing, and track and field, experiences that shaped his competitive mindset and well-rounded coaching philosophy. After graduating from high school, he attended Clark Atlanta University.

Throughout his career in education, Coach Jewell has coached football, flag football, track and field, baseball, and boxing, impacting student-athletes across multiple sports. In 2015, he served as the Quarterbacks Coach at B.E. Mays High School, helping lead the team to a runner-up finish in the state championship. In 2017, as the Frederick Douglass High School girls track coach, his team earned third place in the AA State Finals and captured first place in the 4x400-meter relay. Most recently, in 2023, Coach Jewell led Booker T. Washington High School’s flag football team as head coach to a region championship and a berth in the state playoffs.

Coach Jewell is committed to developing disciplined, confident, and competitive student-athletes both on and off the field.

Baseball Philosophy: My mission as a coach is to challenge each student-athlete to pursue success in every area of life—on the field, in the classroom, and beyond. I expect my players to approach their preparation with focus, accountability, and a professional mindset. In return, I commit to creating an environment where the game of softball is both enjoyable and deeply rewarding.

I treat every student-athlete with respect and dignity, placing a strong emphasis on character, resilience, and growth. Guided by Satchel Paige’s words, “Never let your head hang down. Never give up and sit down and grieve. Find another way,” I encourage my athletes to face challenges with determination and adaptability. As a coach, it is my responsibility to provide every opportunity for each player to develop—not only as an athlete, but as a confident, resilient person.
